See details here: CPE: 2 SPEAKER 1: Wiebke Kessens, Head of Accountability and Compliance, Deputy Head, Johanniter International Assistance Wiebke Kessens has been actively engaged in the humanitarian sector since more than 15 years. Graduating with a degree in Latin American Regional Studies from the University of Cologne, Wiebke furthered her expertise by acquiring certificates in Project Coordination, as a Peace and Conflict Consultant and in Risk- and Compliance Management. Wiebke´s professional journey has taken her to several countries (mainly in Africa), where she actively managed country offices and projects and provided trainings in safeguarding and the prevention of corruption. Within Johanniter International Assistance, Wiebke´s career trajectory evolved from programme coordination to various roles in organizational and strategic development. Currently serving as the Head of Accountability and Compliance and Deputy Director, Wiebke is instrumental in ensuring transparency, ethical standards (especially in the area of safeguarding and anti-corruption), and adherence to guidelines within the organization. SPEAKER 2: Roland Hassel, Corruption Prevention Manager, German Red Cross Roland Hassel is a Certified Fraud Examiner and specialized in corruption prevention and investigations within the international humanitarian sector. He is currently serving in the international division of the German Red Cross as the first Corruption Prevention Manager. Roland has a background in project and crisis management, having gained experience in various challenging contexts such as Lebanon, the Somali border, and various other countries. His expertise is underpinned by a strong academic foundation, holding a Bachelor's degree in International Disaster Management from the Akkon University in Berlin and a Master's degree in Criminology with a focus on Counter Fraud and Counter Corruption from the University of Portsmouth, UK. | |||

After studying Political Science, Islamic Studies, Vortragende: Dr. Anna-Maija MertensMember of the Management Board, Deutsches Institut für Compliance e.V. (DICO)Dr. Anna-Maija Mertens has been a full-time board member at DICO since April 2024. Prior to her current position she served as managing director of the anti-corruption organization Transparency International Deutschland e.V. (from 2014 to 2024), following her experience as a director of the Finland Institute in Germany, where she worked as a doctoral graduate in political science. In her previous roles, Dr. Mertens has focused particularly on innovation management, both in a consulting firm in Bonn and at the University of Münster. Academically, Dr. Mertens engages with institutionalism and the legitimacy of political decision-making.
