Whether punch or seltzer, red wine sauce or orange jus - it is certain that it will be "goose delicious" and very communicative. Dear alumni, dear friends,
Street art has become so popular that millions are paid at art auctions for works by artists like Banksy. Shepard Fairey, who designed the "Hope" campaign poster for former US President Barack Obama, has also achieved worldwide fame. Street art is social criticism and contemporary art that has made it into our everyday lives. It has broken down boundaries and established itself in the exclusive art world.
That is why we cordially invite you to start the year 2023 with an exclusive guided tour of the exhibition "Wonderwalls", which is dedicated to street art in all its facets, at NRW Forum Düsseldorf on 21 January 2023. More than 2,000 works of photography, graphic design as well as graffiti, sculptures, and designer toys merge in a spectacular staging.
We will meet at the Foyer in the NRW Forum, Ehrenhof 2, 40779 Düsseldorf, at 11.15 am, 15 min ahead of the tour to allow time for cloakroom and distribution of entrance tickets, so that we can start the tour on time.
Optionally: Afterwards, we would like to have lunch together in the old town of Düsseldorf to network and discuss our impressions of the exhibition.
Tip: If you would like to spend the entire day in Düsseldorf, you can stroll on your own along Königsallee after lunch. The famous boulevard is only a 10-minute walk from the old town.
Please register by Thursday, 19 January by completing the online registration form. We encourage you to sign-up early, as we allocate places on a first-come, first-served basis.
The guided tour is free of charge for members of the German Friends of LSE. The participation fee for non-members is €10, which we ask you to either pay by Paypal or provide us a SEPA direct debit mandate.
Please contact us if you have any questions. We are looking forward to seeing you at this event.

The MIT Club of Germany kicked-off its Smart Circular Cities activities with a big, in-person event in October 2022 together with our partner BMW, TUM (Technical University Munich) and Circular Munich. The event was the starting point for our Smart Circular Cities Start-Up Mentorship Program, where we bring the global MIT Network to the start-ups that were selected for this program. Besides having 2 dedicated mentors each, the MIT Club of Germany is looking for opportunities to expose the start-up to the global MIT alumni network.
In this context we have put together the following event together with the MIT Alumni Energy, Environment and Sustainability Network to allow interested MIT alumni and partners of the MIT Club of Germany to understand how start-ups contribute to the transition to a circular economy. The participant may even find the presenting start-ups interesting enough to engage with them directly after the event. The MIT Club of Germany is happy to make a connection.

The Data Competence Center Cities and Regions (DKSR) supports municipalities and municipal enterprises to meet current challenges with the help of data-based solutions. With our open-source data platform, data-based solutions are easily deployed across cities and regions. With our consulting, we bring the expertise for the strategic use of urban data to municipalities. With the joint implementation of solutions in the Urban Data Community, we create inter-municipal synergy effects.
FixFirst
FixFirst is a GreenTech startup that aims to end the throw-away world by connecting service providers for maintenance, repair & refurbishment of electronics & more with brands like manufacturers, retailers, cities & insurances on their SaaS-enabled B2B platform that helps them launch, scale, innovate & improve their circular services operations & match materials for reuse - THE Operating System for Circular Services & Products.
tozero
We recycle lithium-ion batteries for the EV Industry and recover the critical materials, like lithium, nickel, cobalt andgraphite. This will allow us to take old batteries and reintroduce fresh raw materials locally back into the supply chain. Therefore, end-of-life batteries will no longer be toxic waste, but a valuable resource for a sustainable future.
Trilleco
The Trilleco software platform helps companies to comply with EU regulations and achieve their CO2 targets. The IoT platform combines all data and assets from the enterprise environment in a three-dimensional representation and visualizes the data through dashboards. In this way, data transparency can be achieved and GHG Scope 1, 2, 3 can be used for ESG reporting. As the next step, processes can be optimized by solutions to specifically reduce CO2 emissions.

Dear alumni, dear friends,
The 1920s are considered a period of upheaval and experimentation in Western modernism. On the one hand, the decade is marked by a deep disruption, on the other hand, it is gripped by an unbroken belief in progress and an unprecedented surge of innovation in all areas of society. The word NEW is becoming the ubiquitous buzzword of the era. Like a kaleidoscope, the variety of different images and voices are brought together to form ever new constellations that are intended to sharpen our view for the events of the 1920s as well as for the analogies they present the present day.
We cordially invite you to join us for an exclusive guided tour in English of the exhibition "1920S! In the Kaleidoscope of Modernism” at Bundeskunsthalle on Saturday, 1 July 2023.
We will meet at the Foyer of the Bundeskunsthalle, Helmut-Kohl-Allee 4, 53113 Bonn, at 3.15 pm, 15 min ahead of the tour to allow time for cloakroom and distribution of entrance tickets, so that we can start the tour on time.
Please register by Thursday, 29 June, by completing the online registration form.

In the evening, we will enjoy a networking barbeque dinner at Hotel Terrassenhof.
On Sunday, we will go to the Wallberg, offering a fantastic view on the Tegernsee and Prealps region where we will also enjoy lunch.

Dear Alumnae, dear Alumni, dear Friends,
Munich, the capital of Bavaria and Germany's third-largest city, is a global hub of culture, politics, science, and media. Its economy thrives on high-tech firms, the service sector, and is home to six DAX companies, making it a powerhouse of innovation and business. Munich is not only a centre for economic activity but also a city rich in culture and history, with numerous museums, theatres, and historic buildings. Following Ernest Hemingway’s recommendation “You don’t even go somewhere else, I tell you, there’s nothing like Munich. Everything else is a waste of time in Germany”, we decided to host this year’s annual meeting in Munich.
For those who are already in Munich on Friday evening, we invite you to an optional guided tour of the Beer and Oktoberfest Museum including a Beer Tasting of all six Oktoberfest Beers with a beer sommelier.
On Saturday afternoon, we will explore the Olympia Park with a guided tour “1972 - 2022 Faster, Further, Higher - Munich 50 Years Olympic City”, revisiting the extraordinary efforts and tragic events of the 1972 Olympics, the historical sites associated with the games and the terrorist attack, and highlighting the 50th-anniversary celebration and the “European Championships Munich 2022.” The tour includes a visit to architectural highlights such as the Olympia Stadion, Olympic Village, Olympia Tower and the memorial site.
The evening event will start with “Eisstockschießen” (Bavarian Curling) including an outdoor reception in the beer garden of the Bamberger Haus in Schwabing. We will continue in the magnificent baroque ballroom “Luitpold Saal” with a set dinner and a speech by Professor Klaus Goetz, LSE Alumnus and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. He will give us his insights and perspective on “Why is contemporary politics so turbulent? And is that a bad thing?”
On Sunday, after a guided walk to Munich Mobility points, we will host a panel discussion of experts on a topic related to the resilience of Urban Mobility followed by a Q & A Session at OutOfOffice München. The Annual Meeting will end with a networking lunch overlooking Munich and the Eisbach Wave.
We cordially invite you and your partner to the annual meeting with the programme you see below.

Hi everyone
For our Q4 get together we will be hitting the Heidelberg Christmas market on 12th December at 7pm.
I got already a few positive responses, however would like to emphasise that for this it would be great if I could get not only tentative indications but more firm commitments and cancelations. Last year we had the problem that we had a few last minute cancellations, and I would like to ensure this year that a minimum quorum is kept.
We will be meeting at 7 at one of the Gluehweinstands opposite and very close the central Aulaentrance as last year. I will be wearing on the day my black-yellow Linacre Rowing Splash Top, which should single me out reasonably well. Please note my phone number +491756171831 for the evening which has whatsapp, Signal and Imessage (apart from the classical phone) enabled in case you are late or cannot find us.
As always feel free to forward this message to other Alumni of the Oxford Cambridge and Ivy league universities (and MIT and Stanford and LSE and Imperial) here in the Mannheim Heidelberg region.
Anyways, I look forward to seeing you on the evening. Please register by sending an email to oxbridge-ivy-rheinneckar@outlook.com.

Dear alumni, dear friends,
A museum that deliberately exhibits a fake Monet? The Wallraff museum in Cologne is showing an unusual look behind the scenes in its "In the Museum's Laboratory" section, where the painting "On the banks of the Seine near Port Villez", which was first identified as a forgery by Wallraf art technicians, is on display. This exciting type of work is what this collection presentation is all about: We will get a clear explanation of what happens behind the doors of the "Department of Art Technology and Restoration". In addition to the forged Monet, we will learn about painting in the Middle Ages, van Gogh's painting tricks and methods of restoration. Furthermore, fascinating X-ray images and infrared images of a medieval altarpiece are on display.
We cordially invite you to join us for an exclusive guided tour in English “In the Museum's Laboratory” at Wallraff-Richartz-Museum on Saturday, 24 February 2024.
We will meet at the Foyer of the Wallraff-Richartz-Museum, Obenmarspforten 40, 50667 Cologne, at 2.15 pm, 15 min ahead of the tour to allow time for cloakroom and distribution of entrance tickets, so that we can start the tour on time.
Please register by Thursday, 22 February, by completing the online registration form.

Dear Ivy Circle Members,
The Harvard Club of Munich is excited to invite the Ivy Circle community to join Harvard alumni for an extremely unique opportunity to speak with Staatsminister Dr. Florian Herrmann. Dr. Herrmann is the Chief of Staff for the Prime Minister of Bavaria, Dr. Markus Söder and Staatsminister for “Bundesangelegenheiten und Medien”.
As attendance will be limited, participants will have the chance to ask questions directly about events this year which may portend seismic shifts, e.g. The Presidential election in the United States, the European Parliament elections, and three state elections in Germany.
Dr. Herrmann, a lawyer by training, has a distinguished career in Bavarian, German, European and Transatlantic politics. He has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament since 2008 and was appointed Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery in 2018. In this role, Dr. Herrmann was also head of the crisis team (“Krisenstab”) during the pandemic in 2020. He held or still holds various ministerial positions in Bavaria, is a member of the Bundesrat, of the EU’s Committee of Region and of NATO’s Parlamentary Assembly. Dr. Herrmann also serves on the boards of a number of civil society organizations.
Echoing Harvard’s Jill Lepore’ highly acclaimed history of the United States, “These Truths”, Dr. Herrmann will address transatlantic relations, a timely topic in a year of elections which may turn out to be portents of seismic shifts.
Date: Monday, 11 March 2024
Time: 18:30 pm - 22:00 pm
Location: Mandarin Oriental, Neuturmstrasse 1, 80331 München
Agenda:
- Opening Remarks
- Q/A from Moderator
- Open Questions from Attendees
- "Flying" Food Served
- Drinks and Time for Networking

- Harvard Club of Munich members 30 years old and younger: 35 Euro
- Harvard Club of Munich members 31 years old and above: 65 Euro
- Non-Members of the Harvard Club of Munich: 95 Euro
The registration fee includes admission to the event, as well as food and drinks during the evening. Non-members of the Harvard Club of Munich may register up to one additional guest at the non-member rate.

Dear alumni, dear friend,
The exhibition “This Is Me, This Is You” provides a first-time ever look at this collection of internationally significant photographs, that has grown over four decades. Since the beginning of her passion for collecting in the late 1980s, Eva Felten has focused in particular on the depiction of people—a focus that she has consistently continued in recent years, and which makes the collection unique in this form. What unites the photographs is a sensitive view of the individual, of different ways of life, political attitudes, and inner conflicts, revealing a diverse panorama of images in the overall show. The title of the presentation is taken from the series “This Is Me, This Is You” (1997–2000) by American artist Roni Horn (*1955). It is a key work that deals with questions about the transience of identity as well as with the presence of photographers within their works.
We cordially invite you to join us for an exclusive guided tour in German “This Is Me, This Is You. The Eva Felten Photography Collection” at Museum Brandhorst on Saturday, 6 April 2024.
We will meet at the Foyer of the Museum Brandhorst, Theresienstraße 35 a, 80333 München, at 13:45 h, 15 min ahead of the tour to allow time for cloakroom and distribution of entrance tickets, so that we can start the tour on time.
Please register by Thursday, 4 April, by completing the online registration form. We encourage you to sign-up early, as we allocate places on a first-come, first-served basis.
The guided tour is free of charge for members of the German Friends of LSE. The participation fee for non-members is €10, which we ask you to either pay by Paypal or provide us a SEPA direct debit mandate.

Dear alumni, dear friends,
The history of Kölsch goes back several hundred years, with the city council and the brewers fighting in the 17th century about the “right approach” to brew beer. Today, Kölsch is a protected geographical indication and needs to be brewed within 50km of the city of Cologne and according to the Kölsch Konvention of the local breweries. Have you wondered how the brewing process works and which other stories surround the drink?
We cordially invite you to join us at a technical brewery visit to Sünners on Saturday, 20 April, to explore the process of brewing Kölsch and enjoy a Stammtisch with fellow LSE and Ivy Circle alumni afterwards.
We will meet at entrance of Sünners Brauwelt, Kalker Haupstr. 260, 51103 Cologne at 18.50 h, 10 minutes ahead of the tour. The tour will be held in English and last ca. 60 minutes, including one glass of beer. Afterwards, we will enjoy the evening with a Stammtisch (pay as you consume)
Please register by Thursday, 18 April by completing the online registration form. We encourage you to sign-up early, as we allocate places on a first-come, first-served basis.
The guided tour costs 5€ for members of the German Friends of LSE. The participation fee for non-members is €15, which we ask you to either pay by Paypal or provide us a SEPA direct debit mandate.
Please contact us if you have any questions. We are looking forward to seeing you at this event.

Hi Everyone
On 5 May we do after last years success a repeat of the Heidelberg day, where Alumni living a bit further off (Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, ...) can join us in Heidelberg for a stroll up the Philosophenweg or up to the castle. Ideally we do this also somewhat kid friendly.
Rough plan is we meet for breakfast sometime around 10h for first round, then walk up either Philosophenweg or up to the Castle in the time 1230 - 1500 and then go for a coffee while the first ones start heading back to further away.
Please let me know whether you are coming - email (oxbridge-ivy-rheinneckar@outlook.com) or whatsapp to +491756171831
Best wishes
